Principles and Priorities
SAC’s Guiding Principles

Political rights and liberties must be respected at all times, including freedom of religion and expression.
Religious and ideological groups have no right to force their beliefs and religious practices on the larger population.

All citizens regardless of ethnicity, religion, and gender are subject to the rule of law, and all have equal claim to political rights.

Political reform and change must always rely on efforts of the citizens of Syria.
All incriminations and arrests must be authorized by law and must be based on due process and legal measures.

Separation of executive, legislative, and judicial powers is essential to protecting political rights and liberties of citizens.

The military is a none-political institution, and must not under any circumstance interfere in the political process. Any military personnel who desire to hold a political position must first resign from the military.

Respect the ethnic, sectarian, and religious diversity of the country, and reject all attempts to isolate or marginalize segments of society on the ground of ethnic, religious, or sectarian group.
